One year ago today...

Life was pretty content until I got that dredful phonecall about Brad's death one year ago today. When I heard it, I was convinced that they had the wrong person...there had to be another Brad Timpf that happened to be in Miami last December 10th. Unfortunately, my hopeful thinking was not true. How could someone have no respect for human life to kill another human being? Especially someone like Brad. I still can not believe it to this day, but I honestly don't think I ever will. Life goes on day to day, and I have realized that as much time that passes, we can not forget our loved ones. That is why I created the memory bands. I have a piece of Brad on my wrist everyday, as all the other people who purchased them do.
As much as today hurt, I was somewhat pleased on the media coverage of the story considering the media usually frustrates me. Below are some links that are worth checking out:

Unsolved murder of chiropractor Timpf should be on poster as well
November 11, 2007

In regards to the poster designed to seek help in two unsolved murders, Chris Reyka and Bryan Pata, it would have been nice to see Brad Timpf's picture on it as well. He was murdered Dec. 10. Brad Timpf was a wonderful friend and chiropractor, former University of Miami basketball player, and family man who helped so many people. Unfortunately, his murder is also unsolved with his killer still on the streets. Reyka, Pata and Timpf all deserve to have their killers serve justice. It is so disheartening to see these tragedies. My heart goes out to all of the families and friends of murder victims. On another note, I am relieved to see the suspect in the murder of Deputy Paul Rein was caught.

Thank you!

Thank you for all of your donations and help with making the Dr. Brad Timpf Scholarship fund exist and raise almost $10,000 to date! On Thursday, August 16th, the Timpf family attended an event at the Signature Grand in Davie where a student was presented a scholarship to attend a Florida school.

The next most exciting thing for us is the Simon Evening of Giving event which will take place on November 18th, 2007 at the Boca Town Center Mall. The blog posted below has all of the details on what this event entails.

Please contact Diana for any information or to purchase a ticket at memorybands@yahoo.com or Lisa at 954.426.1100.

Thank you again for all of your support and dedication to this great scholarship that will help benefit students who would not previously been able to afford college.

The Brad Timpf Scholarship Fund is set up through The Florida Prepaid College Tuition Program. The Foundation continues to invest in the future with it’s partnership with the Florida Prepaid College Tuition Foundation. The Broward Education Foundation, with a match from the Prepaid Foundation, is able to purchase prepaid contracts through the State of Florida. It provides a defined benefit college tuition contract for State universities, community colleges, and vocational/technical centers. Administered by the State of Florida, The Broward Education Foundation invests in this program for many reasons: it provides a defined benefit, its value is guaranteed, as a long term investment it acts as a hedge against inflation, but most importantly the contracts are matched 1:1 by the Florida Prepaid College Tuition Foundation.
