J.P. Taravella High School to Retire Jersey of Former Boys Basketball Star

CORAL SPRINGS, FL (January 9, 2008) — J.P. Taravella High School will retire the jersey number of former star Bradley Timpf — also a former University of Miami basketball player — during halftime of the Trojans home game against Coral Springs High School on Friday, January 18th.
Timpf played center for Taravella before graduating with high scholastic honors and a full athletic scholarship to the University of Miami in 1992. He went on to play as a forward for UM’s men’s basketball team where he left both schools as a legendary player. Timpf went on to study chiropractic care and became a successful doctor with an office in Coconut Creek.
On December 10, 2006, Brad’s life was violently taken at the hands of another in what appeared to be a botched car jacking. Since January of 2007, family, friends and former patients have been raising money for a college scholarship in memory of Dr. Brad Timpf by selling UM themed silicone wristbands. The scholarship money is awarded annually to a graduating senior from Taravella based on academics and financial need. The memory bracelets say "In loving memory of Dr. Brad Timpf" with a basketball logo and his Taravella and University of Miami basketball jersey number 50.
The game will begin at 7:30 p.m. located at 10600 Riverside Drive, Coral Springs , Florida 33071. There is a $4 cash entrance fee to the basketball game and the memory bands will be on sale.
